This month’s franchise of the month is Diesel Barbershop – a ground floor opportunity with a very hip concept.  It’s recession resistant and technology proof and offers recurring revenue.

The concept: a Man Cave for Haircuts:

Diesel is the 21st century version of the vintage corner barbershop that appeals to what customers today want.  It’s part barbershop, part old school record store and part arcade. At Diesel you can enjoy a haircut, neck shave, scalp massage, hot towel treatment, shoulder massage and a beer while you watch sports on TV or play video games and listen to your favorite tunes. Barbershops are the fastest growing segment in the haircare industry with annual revenues approaching $2 billion.  Yet over 80% of current salons fail to implement barbershop focused marketing – a wide gap waiting to be filled.

Who You’ll Serve:

Target audience is a male, 20 to 60 years old who cares about their appearance.  They are looking for a welcoming environment and are willing to spend a little more for the comfort and quality haircut they will find in a Diesel barbershop.  Diesel is a manly, cool inviting barbershop to get haircuts, shaves, beard trims, grey hair coloring and a shoulder massage – all while enjoying a beverage.

How Much You’ll Need:

The average total investment for a single location is $300K-$350K which includes a bit of working capital.  Most investors so far have locked in 3-5 locations as this is a semi absentee business model.  Average ticket is more than double the “value” haircut places.

Ideal Candidate:

Pioneers and empire builders.  Management skills – Diesel will teach you to be CEO of your organization.  People who want to own multiple locations or be an Area Developer.  You can keep your job – you’ll have 2 co – managers (per location) and 6-8 barbers and Stylists.
