Terri, Jeremy, and I recently attended a franchise conference, and we heard about some pretty exciting up-and-coming franchises.  So for this month‘s Franchise of the Month feature – we thought we’d profile 5 that really caught our eye and we think are ones to watch in 2023.

Real Estate Play With a Twist – 

A spinoff from one of the most successful and well-regarded senior care franchises. This is a business where you BUY beautiful residences (private homes in nice neighborhoods) that will serve between 8-12 residents seeking small-scale assisted living or memory care.  Nestled in comfortable neighborhoods residents will feel like they are at home. 

Corporate has operated 4 of these locations since 2018 which allowed them to test the market and the model.  While there are currently a few competitors – no one has the backing and star power of this star powerhouse franchisor.  This one is going to be BIG and fast.

Strong management and people skills are required along with a desire to make a difference and help people.  Investment range between 1.2 and 1.7 MM and they do have a financing partner

Do You Love Kids?  And Have a Passion for Fitness?

An early childhood development program (that is a mobile sport and fitness program) that focuses on enabling young kids to learn sports and love fitness for life. 

They have successfully launched 17 locations so far with many more in the works.  Corporate has a 20-plus-year history of operating PE classes in schools that don’t have programs (paid for by the schools) and enrichment programs (paid for by the parents).  With a mobile footprint this is highly scalable, and a fun, mission-driven business. 

They have recently launched a program of completely running and operating the franchise for the franchisee (called an investment model or passive model) with the goal being they will get your business launched and operating so you can step in down the road without the burden of the startup phase – the most labor intensive for an owner.  A nice option that is flexible enough for you to start out one way and flip to the other at any time and as often as is needed. 

We like this model – for someone who loves kids and is passionate about fitness.

A Monster Opportunity.  For a Pioneer

A sales and rental franchise that sells safety equipment that is REQUIRED to large construction sites. 

Territories are enormous – 8 million in population so this is for the very large metro areas.  A b-to-b business model that operates Monday to Friday selling proprietary and patented products in a very unusual niche space. 

A true start-up franchise with no locations open yet except corporate which is proof of concept.  Amazing opportunity for the right person

This one is HOT

A business offering the rental, installation, and servicing of modular containment systems inside existing commercial buildings such as hospitals, office buildings, and retail centers.

This concept is the first FULL-SERVICE rental modular wall containment solution! Providing an airtight, durable, attractive, and cost-effective solution for ALL construction needs. Your market is ALL spaces under construction and as a rental business, the recurring revenue is attractive.

This one is HOT and growing very quickly and is a GREAT add-on business for someone in the construction industry.  But really anyone with some B-to-B sales experience (especially medical sales) should look at this one.  They are open to owner-operators or semi-absentee with the right manager in place.

Big Investment – Big Return

Rounding out our top 5 “up and comers” is an innovative adult day care center for seniors that is truly one of a kind. 

This one is again for anyone passionate about a mission-driven business with a little more capital available to them. The core values of the leadership team are ones you will be proud to embrace.

There are essentially 2 models of buildout, but the total investment will be anywhere from $925K to around $2.5MM.  This one has had quite a bit of PR and has been featured in all the major news and business journals. 

With many locations already opened in the southeast and plenty more in development, this is a proven, low-labor model for the semi-absentee sophisticated investor with some business savvy and lots of capital wanting to build an empire.
